fiber optic network system

Indianola Municipal Utilities offers Indianola businesses access to telephone, Internet, and other network services that utilize fiber optic lines connected directly to the customers premise.  IMU’s open access fiber system allows private service providers to deliver state-of-the-art telecommunication services via a fiber optic network.

Customers receive services through MCG, a licensed retail provider approved by IMU to operate on the network.  The retail provider has extensive network design and customer service abilities to meet the high expectations set by business customers.

Wholesale service is delivered by Iowa Network Services (INS) to the local point of presence facility via a SONET protected fiber optic ring, with redundant access into and out of Indianola.  INS has two geographically separate IP network gateway locations, each connecting to multiple Tier 1 backbone providers.  Network traffic is efficiently routed between these two locations and upstream carriers.
