Indianola Municipal
Utilities (IMU) is located in Indianola, Iowa and provides the city
with electric, water and communications services. The Indianola
community has enjoyed the benefits of a locally owned, not-for-profit
utility since 1890. Many changes have taken place since those
early years, but one thing has remained the same – our commitment to
providing the most reliable, affordable service possible.
A
municipal utility has many distinct characteristics that benefit the
community it serves. One of the most important benefits is local
control. Every citizen is a utility owner, with a direct say in
policies that affect rates and service. Other benefits include lower
rates, community involvement, not-for-profit operations, public
accountability, local decision-making, and full attention to customer
service. Most of our employees live in Indianola and take personal
pride in the jobs that they do.
We would like to thank you for visiting the Indianola
Municipal Utilities
web site. We hope that you will
find our site to be both interesting and informative. If there is any
additional information we can provide that you would find helpful,
please let us know. We welcome your
